Duke of York Award for Technical Excellence

Seven former UTC students attended a ceremony at St James’s Palace on 16th September 2019 in recognition of their outstanding achievements in STEM education at Post 16. Steve Leahey, Principal, Clive Barker, Vice Chair of Governors and Head of College Neil Arnould where also in attendance.

The Duke of York has a keen interest in technical education and this national award recognises a combination of qualifications, work experience placements and the development of wider competencies required in the workplace such as communication skills and problem-solving.  The Leigh UTC has continually produced winners of this award since opening in 2014 with many going on to be successful across the STEM sector at graduate level.
