GCSE Results 2019

Following on from our impressive P16 results last week, we are excited to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 students.  All UTC students successfully gained a level 2 Technical Qualification as well as reaching their potential across all of their GCSE subjects, allowing them to follow their chosen pathways for the next step in their successful STEM careers.

There has been a steady increase in the numbers of 9- 4 grades (A*-C grades) since 2016 across the majority of our subjects.

We celebrate our best ever English Literature results which also include the best of English overall grades since opening in 2014; our best ever GCSE Art and Design  grades at 83% 9-4; and continued significant improvements in Science, Computer Science, and Mathematics. All students studying L2 BTEC Engineering achieved a Pass grade or above. WIth 16% of all students gaining Distinction or Distinction*.

Our students achieved at least two grades better than predicted by their previous schools,  demonstrating the rapid progress being made at Key Stage 4 by The Leigh UTC.

“I am extremely proud of our Year 11 GCSE students, who have reached their potential across all their subjects at The Leigh UTC.  We have improved our performance year on year. Following on from the excellent post-16 results last week, and the large number of students taking up further career opportunities within STEM I am proud to say we continue this trend at GCSE with all of our students taking up with P16 courses here with us, employment or apprenticeships. As this is only our fourth year of results, it’s extremely impressive to see how fast our UTC is developing.”

Steve Leahey, Principal The Leigh UTC

“I’m delighted to congratulate the students on their results this year. It’s extremely encouraging to see the positive learning experience and support provided by the dedicated team at The Leigh UTC translating into opportunities for students to realise their highest potential. The results also continue to show the benefits of a business-led problem-solving curriculum, which is so important for employers and young people at the start of their careers.”
