UTC First Basketball Match

We had our first ever basketball game today against Wilmington Academy (Boston Celtics).
It was a great event, just shows how far we have come. The students were brilliant and both teams played with the right spirit. Unfortunately we lost to a last second buzzer shot. But It didn’t beat back the smiles on the students faces!

After School Computing Club

This is an After School Computing Club. The Year 7’s are working on to build a computer and the Year 10’s are creating their Adventure Game on Python.
Picture 1: Ryan (building the PC) and Stephen (assisting Ryan to gather parts for the PC)
Picture 2: Steven, Abi and Waleed (at that very moment, Waleed had no idea why his code was not working, he almost gave up. But he managed to spot and rectify the error to create his game).

Huge thanks to Fay and the Team at  #ThermoFischer for organising an incredible year 11 and 12  #STEM morning
#Real life science application #Career pathways #Inspiring the next generation.

District Cross Country

Last Thursday year 8 and 9 completed in District Cross Country which took place at the Leigh Academy. We took our largest ever team of 19 students.

All students were extremely well behaved and each student gave their all when taking part. It was very pleasing to see how our students held their own, as they competed against some very strong grammar and private schools.

Each race had between 60 – 80 students involved. James  and Ewan will both probably go through to the next stage to represent our district in the County Championships later on in the year. Here are some our our results – weil done to all who took part!

Children In Need 2019

This year to raise funds for Children in Need Staff took part in a Bake Off against each other. Staff paid to enter the competition with all the funds going to Children in Need. Staff and students voted and there was a 3 way tie for the winner – Congratulations go to Miss Ibrahim, Mr Orsborne and Mr Baldock.

Year 7 Reward Trip

Yesterday, Mr Young took 12 year 7 students on a reward trip to Bluewater Cinema to see ‘How to Train your Dragon 3’ for achieving 50 plus Class Chart points.
All students were a pleasure to be with. They had excellent manners both with staff and members of the public.
A massive congratulations to all students who achieve this milestone and made a fantastic start to UTC life.
