Letter Module 2 MYP assessments parent letter

Dear Parent/Carer,

RE: MYP assessments

We are writing to inform you that the Year 7-9 MYP assessments will commence week beginning Monday 30th November 2020. The MYP assessment process is a criterion-related model. The strengths of this model are:

  • students know before even attempting the work what needs to be done to reach each level.
  • It helps teachers to clarify and express their expectations about assignments in a way that students can understand.
  • students are assessed for what they can do, rather than being ranked against each other.
  • students receive feedback on their performance based on the criteria level descriptors.

The assessment timetable will be shared with students and parents via MCAS and the assessments will be taking place during your son/daughter’s timetabled lessons in school. The outcomes of these assessments will allow us to determine any gaps in students’ knowledge. Teacher’s interim grades will be shared with you at the end of Module 3 via MCAS (My Child At School).

Please support your son/daughter to prepare for their assessments by encouraging him/her to put extra time for revision. Please see attached guide for parents on how your son/daughter would be assessed and what the assessment criteria looks like for each subject area. Students will also receive a copy of the exam timetable.
