Dear Parent / Carer,
The Careers Team are receiving many interesting and useful opportunities for students to engage with companies and Universities, which we will circulate to students. These include Employability Skills workshops, University insight days and lectures, Virtual Work Experience opportunities, Apprenticeship events with large companies and many more. We are keen that students engage with these opportunities to support their long term career aspirations and to give themselves the greatest chances of success in both University and Apprenticeship application processes.
Some events are scheduled to take place during school holidays, after school or at weekends; we remind all parents / carers of their responsibility to support their children to remain safe online and discuss each opportunity with them. A reminder that you are able to find information relating to internet safety on our website and we have arranged free parent membership for www.nationalonlinesafety.com to find out helpful information around remaining safe online. There is a really helpful series entitled “What parents need to know about …” and give really valuable information to allow parents to have meaningful discussions on many popular online platforms, such as “What parents need to know about Zoom” and “What parents need to know about Video streaming Apps” among many others.
It is also important that if students are lucky enough to participate in these activities that they remember that “Every Day is an Interview” and that they are representing The Leigh UTC. Therefore we expect the highest possible levels of behaviour throughout each opportunity. The students have been supported through the UTC Curriculum, especially in the recent lockdown as to how they should be aware of their online identity and good online behaviour.
