The Leigh UTC was proud to host its Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday, 20th November 2024, celebrating the remarkable achievements of its students and partners. The prestigious event was attended by distinguished guests, including Lord Baker, a prominent advocate for technical education, and Frank Green, Chairman of Leigh Academies Trust.
Held in the inspiring surroundings of the Leigh UTC, the evening was a tribute to the hard work, talent, and innovation displayed by students and collaborators alike. Awards were presented to students who were in Years 10 and 12 during the last academic year, recognising their outstanding academic and technical accomplishments.
The evening was generously sponsored by an array of our valued business partners, including CSB, FM Conway, Kenard Engineering, Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN), Sam Learning, and Cucina. Their ongoing support plays a vital role in empowering students and fostering meaningful connections between education and industry.
Awards were presented by Leigh UTC staff, who proudly aligned the presentations with their subject specialisms, highlighting the breadth and depth of expertise within the UTC community.
In addition to student awards, the Business of the Year Award was presented to Alcatel Submarine Networks, honoring their invaluable partnership and contribution to fostering real-world opportunities for students.
The evening was enhanced by the exceptional catering provided by Cucina, the Leigh UTC’s catering partner, whose culinary expertise added a touch of elegance to the celebrations.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of a bespoke trophy to Lord Baker, crafted by Leigh UTC alumni working at Kenard Engineering. This trophy symbolised the strong connection between the UTC, its graduates, and the industries it collaborates with, underscoring the importance of education as a bridge to future innovation and success.
Principal Kevin Watson commented: “The Annual Awards Dinner is a cherished tradition at Leigh UTC. It allows us to reflect on the incredible achievements of our students and the strong partnerships that enrich our learning community. We are deeply honored by the presence of Lord Baker and Frank Green, whose ongoing support inspires us to push the boundaries of education and technical excellence.”
The Leigh UTC looks forward to continuing its mission of shaping the innovators and leaders of tomorrow, with events like this serving as a testament to the shared success of students, staff, and partners.
