CVs, Applications and Interviews at The Leigh UTC

As part of the annual Routes to Success initiative, year 12 students at The Leigh UTC participated in an extensive half day workshop covering how to write their best C.V, how to apply for a role and interview techniques.

Facilitated by recruitment professional, Daniel Goodwin of Pearson Whiffin Education, students considered what should and should not be included on a C.V and appraised, in groups, a number of C.Vs as to how effective they were. At the forefront of the advice to students was to emphasise achievements and ensure that a C.V is up to date.

Students then went on to consider where and how to find suitable roles and online applications.

Daniel discussed with students their experience thus far of interviews, stressing what an interview might look like going onto explore assessment days which are becoming increasingly common. The interview process, interview etiquette and what to bring and how to dress came next.

Students participated in an exercise on body language to help them think about how they portray themselves.

Leaving a good impression and displaying confidence were key messages here.

Daniel is a regular presenter across LAT academies and we’d like to thank him again for sharing his considerable knowledge.
