Dear Parents/Carers,
Year 11 students have completed their final mock exams this week and we’ve been delighted with the continued progress that is being made. The first GCSE exam is on 16th May and consequently exam preparation and content will be the focus of all lessons from now on. In order to reduce the impact of the pandemic, exam boards have published further information to support students preparing for this year’s GCSE exams. All students have been made aware of the changes for their specific subjects and all subjects have ensured that they have been the main focus areas of learning since their release. AQA has produced a video that will help you to understand the changes, click here to view.
Subject specific changes are linked below, but here are some key amendments:
- There is a reduction in content in English Literature and History
- Practical work for Science can be delivered via demonstration
- Art will be assessed solely on the student’s portfolio
- Students will be provided with an updated formulae sheet in Maths, Physics and Combined Science
- Pre-release topic lists for Mathematics

- Ensuring students are well informed about what is being examined where possible
- Providing plenty of opportunities to practise the routines of exams
- Supporting in understanding what and how to revise
- Explicitly teaching students a range of wellbeing and positive mental health strategies
- Having a range of bespoke support in place for students
