Face Covering/Mask Update

Four female students working on computers

Dear Parents/Carers,

As from Sunday 2nd January 2022, the Department of Education is recommending that face coverings are to be worn in classrooms and outside the classroom in areas such as corridors and communal areas due to the new variant. The advice is short term only, to support pupils and teachers as they return to school this term and builds on the existing proportionate guidance that recommends face coverings for all adults in communal areas of all settings.

Staff and visitors will also wear face masks when moving around the Academy. Staff will continue to have the option to wear a clear face visor when teaching if they wish. Fabric face coverings are required to be clean/fresh for each day, whilst disposable ones will need to be replaced with a new one for the following day or as needed.

The face covering/masks should be plain without any logos or images so as not to attract attention or distract students from their core business of learning. We will continue to ensure enough hand sanitiser stations are available as good hygiene remains a priority for us with students washing their hands on a regular basis. If you feel your child is exempt from wearing a face covering/mask due to a medical need, then please contact your SSM for further guidance.

We would like to remind all parents/carers the importance of continuing to test your child every Sunday and Wednesday evening to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Test kits are available to all students.

Thank you once again for your continued support with this as we continue to review and implement measures to ensure all our staff and students remain as safe as possible during this time.

Yours faithfully,

Steve Leahey
Principal
