2018 Exam results highlights

Our outcomes at Post 16 show an extremely positive trajectory over the last 3 years. Academic programmes, Tech Levels and GCSE resits support the excellent work being undertaken and this is further confirmed when looking at student destinations.

During a time period when qualifications have seen significant changes to content and emphasis on final examinations shows the commitment by our staff for all our students to succeed.


Highlights KS5

  • A-level Value added +0.51

  • Academic Value added +0.24

  • Average grade per entry C for A- Level  and overall

  • 86% of Extended Engineering Diploma students achieved 3 x Distinction grades

  • 83% of Mathematics A- level students achieved  A*-B

  • 31% of all A-level grades were at  A*-B

  • 100% of  students’ destinations were arranged and include University and Level 4 Apprenticeships

  • 9 year 13 students achieved the Duke of York gold award for technical excellence.

  • Excellent English and maths GCSE resit outcomes

Highlights KS4

  • 100% pass in BTEC Engineering

  • 100% pass in BTEC IT

  • 100% C or above in GCSE Smart Product Design and Manufacturing (42% A*-B grade)


As part of the Leigh Academy Trust (LAT) we also look at how we compare with other Trust Schools.

At KS5 our value added for Academic and A levels were the highest in the Trust, with A Level Maths having the highest average grade and and Physics the highest value added.  At KS4 BTEC IT & engineering have highest proportion of Dist* & Dist in LAT
