At The Leigh UTC, students who join us in Year 10, at the age of 14, have a wealth of options to choose from. And by studying technical courses and normal GSCE subjects, you benefit from specialising as well as keeping your options open.

Your specialist options
Between the ages of 14 and 16 you will study for a Technical award. This qualification is the initial step on the BTEC ladder of modular courses that focus on learning in a practical way and which lead on to employment, further education and university.

Students study a number of units that are internally and externally examined. They cover a wide range of areas to give students a solid understanding of all aspects of IT. The course is made up of mandatory and optional units such as technology systems, mobile app development and software development.
