Your child is currently studying for the BTEC Award in Enterprise (Business Studies). The course is assessed through a combination of internal and external assessment. In a normal year, students would first sit the external assessment in the summer of Year 10 with the intention of securing a grade that they can then improve upon with a second attempt of the exam in Year 11.
As you are aware the Government has announced that all official external exams are cancelled this year due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. This means that the external exam that your child would have sat this summer is not going ahead as usual, and instead a Teacher Assessed Grade (TAG) will be generated for this component instead. Evidence for this TAG will be generated through assessments conducted in the classroom (and supported by other work completed in class). The assessments will take place on the following dates:
- Group 1 (10X BS1) – Thursday 6th May & Friday 7th May
- Group 2 (10X BS2) – Wednesday 5th May & Thursday 6th May
These assessments are to be treated as official exams since performance on these will be used to generate the TAG. Your child has been supported with preparation towards the assessment during lessons and this will continue after the Easter break. It is vital that students use time over the Easter break to continue their exam preparation – the Google Classroom contains many resources that can and should be used to support their revision.
