Year 10 Letter to Parents – English

Dear Parent/Carer,

I hope that this letter finds you and your family safe and well.

As you know, we are looking forward, excitedly, to welcoming Year 10 back to school and to traditional English studies, next week.

We have been very pleased with the online engagement Year 10 pupils have shown in English and have been proud of the efforts that have been made in striving towards making progress. I have been looking with interest that attendance and progress in relation to this year group, with the priority intent that the COVID response has as little impact upon the welfare and progress of our students as possible.

To support the students in maintaining the great energy and progress that they have made and in laying the foundations towards securing academic success in their English Literature and English Language GCSEs, I have conversed with their lockdown teachers and considered each child’s exposure to the content coverage since January 2021, to devise the best offer for each child.

As a result, I am writing to inform you that the sets for Year 10 English lessons will be reallocated, to best support the pupils in making a successful reentry to on site learning.

Your child’s timetable will remain the same- English lessons will be at the same time. However, they may be allocated a new teacher and classroom. This measure has been taken to promote the pupils’ wellbeing and to alleviate the pressure that they may be feeling in returning to face-to-face English lessons. Classes have been carefully crafted to ensure that the children return to a thriving classroom environment and continue to enjoy academic success.

The pupils will be notified of these changes upon their return to school.

If I can assist further in answering any remaining questions that you may have, please do not hesitate to contact me at my email address, melanie.hook@theleighutc.org.uk and I shall be happy to discuss the situation.

Many thanks for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Mel Hook
