The Year 7 & 8 Basketball team won their opening game of the season against a great ball handling side of SGLA.
The first quarter saw us take an early lead with Sam O rebounding hard and draining all of his set shots close to the basket putting us up 8-2.
In the second quarter SGLA worked hard battling against our power forwards and moving the ball well, getting back into the game by stopping us from scoring any more than just the one basket.
We realised we had to move the ball more and find the space that Isabelle B was creating, feeding her the ball, enabling her to show off her range of passing and decision making to assist Harry B on the scoresheet.
In the final quarter we knew we had to keep it tight, we didn’t let the nerves get the better of us and despite not scoring any baskets, we did not let this change our game plan and had the crowd shouting “D-fence” constantly, where we stayed disciplined and only conceded one basket.

We look forward to the next game against opposition who had not played a game together before and showed some great promise.
