Years 7 & 8 Junior UK Maths Challenge

Congratulations to our Years 7 and 8 pupils that took part in our first Junior UK Maths Challenge Competitions.

The UKMT Maths Challenge is a multiple-choice competition for students across the UK. The tests are designed to encourage mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems.

This year was incredibly competitive and despite that, we had 5 certificate winners (1 Silver and 4 bronze certificates) with 7 students so close (1 correct answer away from getting a bronze certificate). This is an impressive result at this stage, considering students had only recently returned from lockdown. Personalised feedback has been provided to each student to support their revision for entry next year.

This year’s winners are:

(1) Sam – Silver Award and Best in School

(2) Oliver  – Bronze Award

(3) Stanley  – Bronze Award

(4) Oscar  – Bronze Award

The winners had a meeting with the Headteacher, Mr Leahey and shared their future aspirations STEM careers aspirations.
