This morning, The Leigh UTC has celebrated the success of its first cohort to have been with us from year 7 to year 11. We are extremely proud to have achieved our best ever set of results, with students having demonstrated high levels of resilience and determination over the last few years.
Highlights include: 75% of students achieved a grade 4 in maths, with 69% achieving grade 4 in English. Our first cohort of business students have done extremely well, with 40% achieving top D*-D grades. Engineering has seen similar success with high numbers achieving top grades. In DT and electronics, 90% students achieved grades 9-4.
Many of our students are returning to us next year to undertake STEM courses at Post 16. We would like to congratulate all students, and thank staff for their hard work, and parents for their support throughout.
“To achieve such good results in our first exam series since 2019 is fantastic and a great tribute to our students, their parents, and all our talented staff. Whilst I am extremely proud of our students’ examination success, I am equally proud of the progress they made in terms of their personal and employability skills. I am excited to invite so many of our students to our Post 16 to continue to develop their abilities and skills in STEM learning.” – Steve Leahey, The Leigh UTC Principal
“Congratulations to all our year 11 students who are today receiving their results after much hard work over the last two years. Their results reflect the hard work put in by all of our stakeholders. We are excited about the number of students who are joining our new T Level in Engineering and the opportunities this will provide for the students and the UTC.” – Clive Baker, The Chair of Governors
