Dear Parent / Carer,

Online environments are a huge part of modern lives. Most children/teenagers spend a lot of their spare time online. In school we educate our students about online risks; such as Online bullying, Privacy & Security and the dangers of Online Gaming, Social Media and Streaming.

As a parent, it is very difficult to navigate and support our children through this aspect of their lives. At Leigh UTC, we really want to support parents in this regard. In order to support you, we have registered for www.nationalonlinesafety.com which has some helpful explainer videos to outline some of the dangers and how you can minimise risk whilst our children are online. There are also certified courses specifically aimed to support parents with online safety which are age specific.

Any parent within the Leigh UTC community can have access to the website. Each week, we plan to specialise in one such area. This week is national anti-bullying week and we would like to start by raising awareness around ‘Online Bullying’. Doing these courses/watching these videos could be something that you do with your child to create a dialogue.
