Module 5 Clubs and Activities Years 7-9 letter

Three Leigh UTC students are shown working on laptop computers together at a desk.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are pleased to inform you that we will be relaunching our extra curricular clubs for year 7-9 from the 17th April 2023. Our aim is for  all our students to engage with our co-curricular programme, as we believe it is vital for all our pupils to be exposed to every possible opportunity to engage with activities beyond the taught curriculum in secondary school. We would appreciate it if you could support us in encouraging your child to attend some of these great opportunities.

The clubs will be running after Easter as per the schedule below and  we plan to extend this offer in Module 6.

Monday

  • Subbuteo & Board games club – IA Room AG.17 – 15:15 – 16:10
  • Multi sports club – IA changing rooms – 15:15 – 16:10

Tuesday

  • The Big Question Club – IA Room A1.11 – 15:30 – 16:00

Thursday

  • KS3 Science Club – UTC Room 1.17 – 15:15 – 16:10
  • Micro bits and Computer games club – UTC Room 2.02 – 15:20 – 16:00
  • Anime Club  – IA Room AG.18 – 15:15 – 16:10

Friday

  • Rugby – IA changing rooms – 15:15 – 16:10

All of the current co-curricular activities are open to students across KS3. As well as engaging our students in something new, the clubs will also provide a chance for students to develop new friendships, their confidence, and social skills by interacting with pupils from different year groups.

In addition, Sixth Form students are encouraged to form, recruit for and run their own co-curricular activities, or support staff in running clubs for younger students.

All clubs will run after school and will start at 3.15pm. Your child cannot be a member of a club until we have received a completed form signed by you, the parent/carer. To enrol your child to any of the current co-curriculum programme please complete the form below: https://forms.gle/JDtSiuDvoFDxPJJ26

Please note:

Clubs will run on a first come, first served basis. Student membership will not be confirmed until we have received this form back. Please complete the online form by Sunday 16th April.

Registers will be taken in every session so that we can track exactly who is attending which clubs and how often. Students who miss more than 2 sessions will lose their space in the registered club and their place will be offered to the next child in our waiting list.  Registers also allow us to evaluate the effectiveness and engagement with the co-curriculum programme.

Kind Regards,

Mrs E Walker
